Brushing Routine

Brush weekly with a rubber curry comb or hound glove to remove loose hair from the distinctive silver-gray coat. Their short, sleek coat is among the easiest to maintain. A chamois cloth rubbed over the coat after brushing produces the beautiful metallic sheen Weimaraners are known for. For long-haired Weimaraners, brush 2-3 times weekly with a pin brush.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 5-7 weeks with a mild, moisturizing shampoo. Weimaraners have naturally clean coats that rarely develop odor. Use a gentle formula since their skin can be sensitive. A light conditioner maintains the coat's signature silky feel. For the long-haired variety, use a detangling conditioner on the feathering.

Seasonal Care

Weimaraners shed moderately year-round with a slight increase in spring and fall. In Houston summers, their lean build and short coat manage heat reasonably well but they need shade and hydration during activity. In rare winter cold, a light jacket is appreciated since the single coat provides minimal insulation.
