Brushing Routine

Brush daily with a slicker brush and fine-toothed comb. Their soft, wavy to curly coat is one of the most mat-prone of all doodle crosses due to the extremely fine hair texture from the Cavalier parent. Work gently but thoroughly, starting from the ends and working to the roots. A detangling spray is essential.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 3-4 weeks with a gentle, moisturizing shampoo and rich conditioner. Their fine coat benefits from a deep conditioning treatment to prevent the brittleness that leads to matting. Blow-dry completely on a low heat setting -- their fine coat is more susceptible to heat damage than coarser doodle coats.

Extend Your Grooming Results

Keep the facial hair trimmed to a manageable length. Consider a shorter overall trim if daily brushing is not realistic.

Seasonal Care

Low shedding in curlier coats, light shedding in wavier coats. Houston humidity makes their fine coat frizz and tangle faster. An anti-humidity finishing spray helps in summer. No seasonal blowout but continuous growth means regular trimming year-round. Shorter clips are recommended for Houston summers.

Maintenance Schedule
