Brushing Routine

Pomskies (Pomeranian x Siberian Husky) inherit a stunning double coat from both parent breeds, creating one of the densest coats among designer breeds. Brush thoroughly 3-4 times per week with a pin brush for the topcoat and an undercoat rake for the dense underlayer. During shedding season, daily brushing is mandatory. A deshedding tool is essential but should be used carefully to avoid damaging the topcoat. Work in sections, always brushing in the direction of hair growth.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 6-8 weeks unless visibly dirty -- both parent breeds have self-cleaning coats with natural oils that should not be stripped through frequent bathing. Use a deshedding shampoo and conditioner system to loosen the undercoat. A high-velocity dryer is critical for blowing out loose undercoat and ensuring complete drying of the dense double coat. Never air-dry a Pomsky -- trapped moisture leads to hot spots and mildew odor.

Seasonal Care

Pomskies blow their undercoat dramatically in spring and fall, and this is their most demanding grooming period. In spring, the heavy winter undercoat sheds in clumps and daily raking is essential. In summer, never shave a Pomsky -- the double coat insulates against heat and UV. Keep them cool with shade, water access, and air conditioning. In winter, the coat thickens substantially and looks its best but still needs regular brushing to prevent the dense undercoat from felting.
